2025 Jan-March Newsletter

Happy April, community members! CCVAP had an extremely vibrant and busy quarter as we continued to connect with community and provide services. Our ongoing work in MMIP prevention and awareness saw some great strides in the past months as we got closer to finalizing logistics for our upcoming website and app. In February, we attended the 3rd Annual California Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) Summit organized by the Yurok tribe at the Pala event center. We are still seeking focus group participants, so if you are interested please sign up with the QR code below!

CCVAP held a journaling workshop in January to welcome the new year and participants took home a beautiful 8th Gen journal and stationary supplies. Our goal for this workshop was to encourage expressive writing as a therapeutic exercise.

Our Shelf Care Book Club has seen expansion as we now offer book club meetings at both Los Coyotes Tribal Administration as well as the Torres Martinez Library! We continue to center stories by Indigenous authors surrounding topics of resilience from historical and intergenerational trauma.

CCVAP gave several educational workshops for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and also had the opportunity to partner with the Cahuilla Fire Department for a joint training on Active Shooter preparedness and Human Trafficking Awareness.Additionally, CCVAP have restocked our “go-bags” for emergent services. Our new bags feature several essentials for any emergent situations as we continue client-centered advocacy.
