Outreach & Education events

Flowers & Finance - CCVAP partnered with Legacy Bank and hosted a financial literacy workshop accompanied by a craft!

Soboba Women’s Conference - CCVAP Director Samantha Thornsberry was invited to give the keynote on the topic of MMIP Prevention.

Self Defense with CCVAP- CCVAP partnered with Roger Carpenter Jiu Jitsu and offered an intro to martial arts course at the Hemet Resiliency Center.

Women Are Sacred - CCVAP Advocates and OPEC traveled to Wisconsin to attend NIWRC’s 2025 Women are Sacred Conference. Best practices in victim advocacy were discussed in community with nationwide service providers.

2025 TSASP Institute - CCVAP Director, VS Director, and OPEC attended the annual TSASP Institute in New York.

Self Defense with CCVAP - CCVAP partnered with Roger Carpenter Jiu Jitsu and offered an intro to martial arts course at the Torres Martinez Tameka Gym

Tie-Dye Talking Circle - CCVAP held a tie-dye talking circle at the Torres Martinez Senior Center where we made orange tie-dye shirts to wear on 9/30,or Orange Shirt Day. This talking circle discussed the history of boarding schools and the lasting historical and generational trauma that came from this violent era. Elders who participated were able to take home a copy of the children’s book, Coming Home: a Hopi Resistance Story
