2025 Oct-Dec Newsletter

October brought with it a few opportunities for outreach and education. For this year’s DV Awareness Month campaign, we provided a large pop-up banner at each consortium tribe’s admin office for folks to engage with and encouraged them to follow us on social media for a month of statistics and learning. Additionally, our annual Trunk-or-Treat celebration at Cahuilla centered around the themes of self-confidence and motivation with Kpop Demon Hunters as our theme. Children enjoyed receiving a ramen cup with inspirational messaging on it from their favorite characters!
Torres Martinez Tribal TANF invited CCVAP out to table at their annual red-ribbon week trick-or-treat event. We had a great time talking to the community and children about consent, mindfulness, and building trust with the adults in their lives. Our button-making activity was a hit and everyone who participated got to take home their DIY button!
We also had the opportunity to partner with the Torres Martinez Tribal TANF youth group and discuss Teen Dating Violence and Stalking with a critical viewing party of Twilight!
CCVAP and Roger Carpenter Jiu Jitsu Academy continued the “Self-Defense with CCVAP” education series at Cahuilla and Santa Rosa Tribal Halls and had an excellent time teaching basic self-defense techniques to the youth and adult participants. A key takeaway from these sessions has been that martial arts is not only a great activity for physical wellness and violence prevention, but also a wonderful tool for mental wellness. We hope to continue this series at our consortium tribes in the future!
Morongo Tribal TANF invited CCVAP out to table at their December Family Unity Event and we had a great time connecting with community members and passing out educational materials on online safety. We even got to take a picture with Santa!
CCVAP wishes everyone a very Happy New Year and we’re excited to make new memories with our community in 2026!
