EVAWI 2026

The Cahuilla Consortium team attended the annual End Violence Against Women International conference in New Orleans for a week in April. CCVAP had the opportunity to learn from professionals in victim services from around the country and bring back new and improved strategy for victim support at home!

Denim Day

This year, CCVAP held a month-long Denim Day campaign for Sexual Assault Awareness Month by visiting each consortium Tribe for a workshop. Community members had the opportunity to decorate a denim jacket and discuss sexual assault prevention.

Outreach

CCVAP had several opportunities to connect with community members from April through June, the highlights of which were Cahuilla and Soboba Earth Days, TANF children and family events, and MMIP Awareness events!

MMIP Awareness Month

Cahuilla Consortium had the opportunity to attend the MMIP Week of Action in Sacramento in the first week of May to take part in collective advocacy efforts in MMIP prevention. We also had the pleasure of providing outreach at the 4th Annual Yuhaaviatam MMIP 5K, where CCVAP was the recipient of this year’s award! We thank the San Manuel Nation MMIP advocacy group for their generosity.

Launch of Resilient Relatives

CCVAP has officially launched Resilient Relatives, an online MMIP resource hub for California Indians. We are still in the early stages of launch, and would love feedback from community members as we navigate this new project. The objective of this website is to provide a place that houses several types of resources for families, survivors, Tribal community members, service providers, and MMIP allies in regards to the MMIP crisis.

What Books Have We Read This Year?

We hold deep gratitude for all our community partners who have been supporting our prevention education efforts. From TANF programs inviting us out for youth and women’s groups, to consortium Tribal members for continuing to attend our Shelf Care Book Club, we thank you!
