New to Our Team!
by: Whitney Liera
Hello, my name is Whitney and I am a new Victim Advocate working with the Cahuilla Consortium. I am a member of the Cahuilla Band of Indians, and it is an honor to be serving the Cahuilla people in this role. I am a recent graduate of San Diego State University (SDSU) where I received my Master’s in social work. While in this MSW program, I was a Title IV-E recipient and focused my studies on Child Welfare. I also received my Pupil Personnel Services Credential with a focus on child welfare and attendance. Previously, I received my BA in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. My experience in the field includes suicide prevention and intervention, community prevention outreach and domestic violence/sexual assault advocacy. Currently, I am working towards getting my clinical license to become a therapist for those who have experienced trauma. While working at the Cahuilla Consortium I hope to continue the great work that is being done and be able to expand my advocacy skills. Other things I enjoy are running, beading and other art/crafts and spending time with my two dogs, Stanley and Snickers. While I have spent the last 14 years living in San Diego County, I am excited to be back home and closer to my family and tribe.
