Our 40-Hour Training

Last week, our entire staff was fortunate enough to attend a Tribal Sexual Assault Advocacy Training by the National Tribal Advocate Center, a program of Red Wind Consulting. This training took place in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Our training was expansive covering PL-280 and its implications, working with affinity groups such as the LGBTQ2S+ community, and Native American specific programming.

This weeklong training also allowed for our staff to share ideas and resources with other Tribal Victim Advocacy organizations from across the country. Moreover, we were able to tour the facilities of the Haseya Advocate Program in the Colorado Springs region. This program was also a project of Red Wind Consulting. We toured not only their office space, but their healing garden as well. In this space, we discovered the traditional healing practices that staff utilized with their clients. Overall, our experience at the training was amazing and our staff is excited to implement the amazing ideas we have come up with to serve our clients!
